Survey research, the most often used type of research, allows you to gather data from a sample of the universe that can then be applied to the entire population. Using quantitative or survey research, you are able to obtain numerous close ended questions such as favorable vs. unfavorable, approve vs. disapprove, favor vs oppose, or multiple choice questions. Focus Group Research Focus group research is an important component of overall public opinion research. Although focus group research cannot be projected to the population, this qualitative research provides a powerful complement to quantitative work. Specifically, this type of research helps us to understand the reasons why people hold certain views and provides a setting in which we can introduce new ideas and information and gauge audience reactions. Qualitative research also helps guide quantitative efforts. Internet Research The Internet is the latest tool for data collection. Utilizing password protected sections of a website, our clients can survey their target audience quickly and relatively inexpensively. Dial Testing Research Dial testing research, the next generation of focus group research allows respondents to score various stimuli presented to them on a moment by moment basis. For speeches, jury summations, advertising or news coverage, this technology provides you with a graphic presentation overlaid onto the video, allowing you to see how customers, clients and other viewers react to specific words or phrases of your speech or advertising. And, American Viewpoint has taken this technology a step further by combining it with traditional focus group technology to further analyze specific message points and top of mind recall.
